Our history
Since its foundation in 1986, ERYICA has been a key actor in the advocacy of youth information rights in Europe.
ORIGIN
1985
The European Colloquium in Marly-le-Roi (France) recommends the creation of a framework for European cooperation in the field of "generalist" youth information and counselling.
1986
ERYICA is founded in Madrid (Spain) as the result of a constitutive meeting. 12 organisations in 8 countries constitute ERYICA's initial partners.
1987
On 17 April 1986, ERYICA registers as a non-profit association.
SUPPORT & DEVELOPMENT
1993
The fourth ERYICA General Assembly in Bratislava (Slovakia) adopts the European Youth Information Charter.
1994
ERYICA establishes its secretariat in Paris.
1997
The Council of Europe signs a partnership agreement with ERYICA.
2000
The first ERYICA Governing Board is elected.
2001
ERYICA launches its first training for youth information workers.
2007
The ERYICA Secretariat moves to Luxembourg.
INITIATIVES
2008
ERYICA starts celebrating the European Youth Information Day on 17 April.
2018
ERYICA launches, for the first time, an eLearning training system through the DOYIT online platform.
2019
The First ERYICAcademy Training of Trainers Programme is launched.
2021
The first European Youth Information Quality Label is awarded.
2022
ERYICA Youth Ambassadors Commission is established.
