Informing and Inspiring: Youth Ambassadors Take the Lead in Baleares

50 young people from 5 municipalities in Mallorca and Menorca took part in the IBJOVE Youth Ambassadors training sessions that were held last November 14 and December 4.

This year, 4 municipalities in Mallorca are part of the Youth Ambassadors project: Capdepera, Marratxí, Santa Maria and Sóller, and 1 in Menorca: Ciutadella; who have encouraged a group of their young people to participate in the activities during the 2024/25 school year.

The general objective of the project is to promote and facilitate tools for the creation of Youth Ambassadors programs to achieve the participation of young people in the information process, enhancing their critical spirit, their informational skills and the healthy handling of ICT, so that they can pass it on to their peers.

During the training days, through specific dynamics, the participants get to know each other and are aware that they are part of a project, a network and strengthen group bonds.

Based on the training activities, they improve their informational skills, learn what youth information is, as well as the tasks performed by the figure of the Youth Ambassador.

On this occasion, they also participated in the "Uses of AI and Deepfakes" workshop, which aims to show the usefulness of the different applications of generative AI while making them aware of the consequences of their misuse.
