Navigating the Online World Safely
In the European Year of Skills, the European Youth Information Day 2023 (#EYID23) embraced the theme of digital well-being and responsible online engagement. Under the slogan “My Digital Me: Connected. Informed. Critical,” the campaign aimed to equip young people with essential skills in cybersecurity and media literacy.
As technology continues to influence young people's daily lives, this campaign sought to empower them to navigate digital environments wisely, foster healthy online habits, and recognise online threats. Youth information workers were also given resources to strengthen their knowledge and better support young people in these areas.
The campaign was implemented in 12 languages and shared in 21 countries, with over 890 shares across social media. It reached 83,000 impressions, brought 212 new followers to ERYICA’s accounts, and generated 1,003 visits to the EYID section on the website.
Through activities like “The ABC of MIL,” “How to Stay Safe Online,” and “What Does Europe Do for You?” the campaign promoted critical thinking, safe online practices, and a better understanding of European policies protecting digital rights.
Thanks to the contributions of youth organisations, young people, and youth information workers, #EYID23 highlighted the importance of informed and responsible digital citizenship. Together, we took an essential step toward creating a safer and more knowledgeable online community.
